Raised in Las Vegas, DJ Travis Emmons began his career playing small house parties for friends in high school. He quickly catapulted into the music scene, as The Opium Group of South Beach Miami brought him in to open, and become resident DJ of, Las Vegas’ Prive nightclub at the ripe age of twenty-one. Soon after, Emmons moved to Hollywood to pursue his music career and currently travels between LA, Las Vegas, and Miami to perform.
DJ Travis Emmons has quickly risen to become an artist to watch, especially in 2012, having landed a spot as resident DJ and opening for, as well as playing sets alongside, world renowned artists including the likes of LA Riots, Deadmau5, Nervo, Sander Kleinenberg, Rony Seikaly, DJ Ruckus, Trent Cantrelle, DJ Vice, and many more at AGENCY nightclub in Hollywood, CA.
As AGENCY’s resident DJ, Emmons takes comfort in the venue’s lording DJ booth and intense sound system. Being that AGENCY is an unannounced top DJ performance haven, Emmons has informed HouseMusicOrDie that the secrecy surrounding performers each Tuesday night is not limited to the audience.
Deadmau5’s surprise performance during Grammy week proved to be one of Emmons’ most memorable evenings at AGENCY, as he had “literally no idea until [Deadmau5] walked in and set his bag down in the booth.”
With world renowned artists like Deadmau5 casually making their rounds through AGENCY nightclub, the influence of EDM on nightlife and music culture becomes undoubtedly apparent.
The huge presence of EDM at the Grammys this year has shone a vibrant spotlight on this cultural movement, offering the EDM music genre its well deserved recognition. Emmons finds this movement to be inspiring, “because before this year, most EDM artists hadn’t even thought about winning a Grammy!”
With its growing future, Emmons is “hoping EDM is gonna have more tech-house,” though admits it “might just be wishful thinking.”
When asked which artist he’d be most excited to team up and collaborate with, Emmons found it tough to narrow it to one, or even three, as his taste in producers varies. Emmons noted that he is a big fan of Alex Kenji, Pleasurekraft, and Nicky Romero—all of which you may be fortunate enough to hear worked into his sets.
A familiar fan favorite, DJ Travis Emmons’ weekly AGENCY residency showcases a set that leaves tables sold out and liquor flowing through the night.
Aside from these performances, Emmons is currently working on a few different original tracks and collaborating with DJ S.co. We can also expect to see a new mix specifically geared toward UMF/WMC partygoers! Check out AGENCY Tuesdays to get a glimpse of this must see DJ/Producer!
