As you’ve probably noticed by now, deadmau5 likes to keep his album titles as vague and ironic as possible. His new album that was released today is no different; a 13-track compilation titled Album Title Goes Here.

2012 was an interesting year for deadmau5 who faced criticism from fans for straying too far from his 2008-2010 sound that made him the iconic super DJ he is today. Given this, what can you expect from this new album?

The album has got a little bit of everything we’ve grown to expect from Joel Zimmerman, and yet there’s still something missing.

It contains a number of deadmau5 signature styled progressive house tracks such as “October,” “Fn Pig,” and “There Might Be Coffee.”

It contains satisfying single-ready hits we’ve all heard such as “The Veldt“, and “Professional Griefers.”

It even contains some fresh collaborations with the likes of Cypress Hill on “Failbait”, as well as Imogen Heap on “Telemiscommunications.”

The album as a whole however is sort of like its first track “Subliminal,” which has a great buildup and then fades out before any climax. The album will leave your ears with blue balls, desperately wanting more. Given the level of amazing EDM music deadmau5 has consistently put out throughout his career, I don’t think its unfair for all of us to hold his work up to a higher standard.

On another note, be sure to check out my personal favorite track from the album above, “Closer”. It’s pretty fucking epic.

Ever since Dada Life dropped this massive remix at Coachella, we’ve all been impatiently waiting for its release. Well the wait is over, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

#1: AVICII

One of your main priorities this weekend should be seeing Avicii perform at his resident DJ stomping grounds, Marquee. Often criticized for his lack of releases, Avicii answered the call this month with three new sick releases including his latest, the simple but incredibly infectious, “Last Dance.”

Check him out Friday night, or hit up our personal favorite Vegas pool party, Marquee Dayclub on Saturday.

#2: TIESTO

Kick off the weekend right by dancing your ass off Friday night to one of the world’s most renowned DJs at XS Nightclub. You can never go wrong with a performance from Tiesto to set the tone for the rest of your weekend.

#3: deadmau5

As tired as you may be, in order to properly wrap up the weekend deadmau5 is playing Monday night at XS. After a bit of a hiatus last year, deadmau5 has regained his 2010 form with a string of chart topping releases including “The Veldt,” and most recently, “Professional Griefers.”

With a new album coming out soon in September, deadmau5 is sure to drop a fresh set that will top off the weekend right.

#4: NICKY ROMERO

There isn’t a hotter DJ right now than Nicky Romero, who had a string of amazing releases such as “Sparks,” “Human,” and his upcoming track “Iron,” which features Calvin Harris.

Romero has really made a name for himself this year and solidified his status as a top-tier DJ. Check him out at TAO on Saturday night.

#5: CEDRIC GERVAIS

Cedric Gervais might not be a household name yet like the other four DJs on this list, however he certainly seems like he’s destined to be. Following his popular release, “Molly,” Cedric has been making a name for himself on his tour across America. His next stop after his gig at Marquee Dayclub this Friday will be the Orange County California. Can’t wait!
