His shows are packed full of half naked college co-eds, big-busted-bleached blondes, bros in tank tops, but also nerdy head bangers, and 20-something 9-5ers. Its obvious by looking at his audience that he has reached across demographical boundaries pulling fans from all corners of the EDM scene.
Porter Robinson has seemingly exploded out of nowhere. The words “genius” and “prodigy” have been used to describe this EDM producer and while that may be the case a good amount of hard work has also been peppered into the equation. Robinson has been hard at work experimenting and tweaking his own sound since the age of thirteen, quite the opposite of the nose-picking and excessive masturbation of most pre-pubescents.
After the successful remixing of songs by Avicii and Lady Gaga, Robinson released his first EP, Spitfire, on super-producer Skrillex’s new label OWSLA. With tracks like “100% in the Bitch”, “Unison” and “Vandalism” Robinson has established himself with a sound that sets him apart from the rest of the pack.
His tour schedule has been impressive as well playing hundreds of dates including Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, Ultra Music Festival, and toured with Tiesto and Dada Life for the College Invasion Tour. A short mini-documentary was released chronicling a few days in his life on that tour.
He has also headlined the Spitfire Tour promoting his own EP. His solo shows, in comparison to the massive spectacles which he has been apart of, are focused on getting the crowd going with head-banging tracks and dancing to exhaustion. With beautiful girls throwing themselves at him in city after city and no end to his success in sight, no one can deny it’s good to be Porter. Oh yeah, and did I mention that he also just graduated from high school. What have you done this year?
